The Coiba Archipelago is a chain of 39 beautiful islands that ends up becoming the southernmost point in Panama. They sit 60 miles off our departure port of Boca Chica in the Gulf of Chiriqui. This is a world class fishing area that's famous for its many giant Cuberas especially & Roosters, Amberjacks, Tuna and a heap of other hard fighting species. It's a long run to get to this remote, untouched area so on this trip we set up camp on Isla Jicarita to make the most of our time out there.
This makes for a truly memorable expedition and waking up on a deserted paradise island just a few minutes away from these world class fishing spots really has its advantages. This area can provide amazing action where literally anything that swims in the Eastern Pacific can show up!
Most of the fishing is centred around jigging, popping, casting stickbaits, chunking and fishing big livebaits from our 28ft Blackfin Sportfisher with twin 300hp engines. These trips are for the hardcore anglers amongst you; giving you access to some of the most incredible Saltwater Fishing in Panama with memories to last a lifetime. This is a truly unique experience and adventure.
We sleep under canvas and take a cook with us who provides 3 excellent meals a day that are prepared in the camp kitchen which we set up on the island. He also prepares the fish that we catch on a daily basis.
Our captain 'Fillo' is highly respected locally and has been fishing the waters of the archipelago all his life; the last 18 years specifically sport fishing. He knows these remote waters like the back of his hand.

World Class Fishing and Remote Off-Grid Camping
Expedition in the Coiba National Park

THE FISHING: Jigging, Popping, Casting Stickbaits, Chunking, Livebait fishing, Shore casting.
SPECIES: Cubera, Roosterfish, Amberjacks, Bluefin Trevally, Pompano, Snappers, Yellowfin Tuna, Bonito, Jack Crevalle, BigEye Jacks, Sailfish, Rainbow Runner, Barracuda, Groupers & more.
These trips are mostly focused on the inshore species & Tuna as they come very close to shore here. We don't go trolling lures and baits offshore for the pelagic species.
SEASON: January through March

THE BOAT: We are runnning a 28ft Blackfin Sportfisher with twin Mercury 300hp Engines, the latest Garmin Sonar and GPS, Radio, safety gear etc... It's perfect for making the run out to the islands.
This boat has ample shade and storage enabling us to carry all the provisons and equipment we need for our camping and fishing needs. There is a large front casting deck with a rail as well as a spacious rear deck area for bait fishing, chunking and jigging.

THE CAMP: Our camp set-up is basic yet provides everything you need to stay on the island. Each angler has their own tent with a matress, pillow, sheets, towel and USB fan. We take a limited amount of fresh water for washing the salt off after your end of day dip in the ocean.
Our cook, Marvin, sets up a kitchen on the island along with a table and chairs where we eat together. The boat stays anchored just off the beach and we use a dinghy on a pully system to get to and from it. Both the cook and captain sleep on the boat.
WHO IS THIS TRIP FOR?
This trip is for hardcore saltwater anglers who are all about ADVENTURE! It's a wild experience in a truly stunning, remote location; totally at one with nature and everything it can throw at you. We take enough creature comforts and provisions with us to ensure a great time is had by all. Make no mistake though; this a wild-camping trip at the end of the day, so if you worried about getting a little sand between your toes or need air-conditioning then this might not be the trip for you. That said, we do provide USB fans, matresses and everything you need to get a good nights rest on the island. It's an unforgettable experience for those with an adventurous, easy going disposition!
