Jungle Fishing for Peacock Bass

Jan 30th to Feb 6th - Rio Tomo Floating Camp
This is a hosted trip and you will be accompanied by PISCATOURS personally

This coming January of 2027, PISCATOURS will be running our third fully hosted trip to the legendary 'Rio Tomo Floating Camp', which is the only one of it's kind in Colombia. They offer a magical experience out in the wilderness, including 7 nights and 6 full days of jungle fishing. We will be sleeping in floating cabins right on the waters edge in total comfort with top-class catering also. We will be fishing both the Tomo and Gavilan Rivers which are famous for some of the biggest, numerous and most colourful Peacock Bass on the planet! There are also Arowana, Pacu, Redtail Catfish, Piranha and Bicuda amongst other jungle species to target.
FISHING SEASON: The floating camp operates from December through March and there are open spots in all months of the season. Let us know which month suits you best and we'd be happy to supply you with the available dates for 2027 if you'd prefer to go solo rather than join our hosted trip.

ON THE WATER: We will be fishing in 14ft Aluminium boats with outboards to get you to the spots and electric trolling motors to enable a stealthy approach once you get there. We fish from dawn until dusk and will be guided by the local creole people who know the waters like the back of their hands. We take a break during the middle of the day to eat and rest up for a while before fishing the afternoon. You can fish with lures or with fly tackle, whatever you prefer. We took both last time!

MEALS & CATERING: 3 excellent and generous meals are included and will be prepared for you daily. there are unlimited beers, soft drinks, water and snacks during your stay at the camp`and when on the water too. The food really is fantastic and the crew even come out to join us on the banks at lunchtime and cook BBQ's for us there! This camp is very service oriented and they do a fantastic job of taking great care of us while we are there.
BACK AT THE CAMP: There are 5 floating cabins in total. These are twin occupancy, each with private bathroom, fans, mosquito nets and electricity to charge your devices. The beds are comfortable and the cabins are very thoughtfully designed. The staff come through to clean spotlessly and offer a daily laundry service so you don't need to bring a mouintain of clothes with you. There is also STARLINK INTERNET so you keep in touch with the outside world.

FISHING GEAR: They do not provide any fishing gear so you must bring your own fly and lure fishing equipment. We will provide you with a comprehensive and up to date tackle and kit list.

GETTING THERE: As with most prolific and remote fishing spots, they are not always easy to get to with this one being no different. After arriving in Bogota, we spend the night in a hotel and the following morning take an internal flight of around an hour across to the town of La Primavera on the edge of the savannah. From there, we then have a 4 hour off-road journey in 4x4 vehicles to reach the camp and the Tomo river system. The journey is all part of the adventure and I can assure you, it's well worth the effort! The return journey is the same, but in reverse with another night at the hotel in the city before flying home the following day. All transfers, transport and internal flights are included in the package.
